It is now easier to get to Costa Rica from Dubai
Home to 4.8 million people, the beautiful nation of Costa Rica is the ultimate destination for lovers of adventure and nature. Bordered by both the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, you will find rainforests, volcanoes, and even a cloud forest elevated hiking trial in the verdant land. It's also home to more than 500,000 plant and animal species.
The good news is that Emirates has just partnered with JetBlue, which means that Costa Rica is now just one stop away from the UAE.
So you can now hop from an Emirates flight to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to either San Jose or Liberia in Costa Rica. This will bridge the UAE to many Latin American countries (Costa Rica is bordered by Nicaragua and Panama). The codeshare flight is already in operation.
So what does a codeshare mean for a traveller?
A codeshare is when one airline puts its code and flight number on a route operated by another. But how does this agreement help you as a traveller?
First, it makes booking a ticket easier. You can now go to Emirates.com and book a flight to Costa Rica in one click, and earn Skywards miles for the entire trip.
Also, when connecting to a codeshare flight, you can travel on one ticket and check your bags through to your final destination.
Also, you can be safe in the knowledge that the airlines are working together and so will do their best to make sure you catch your next flight in case of delays etc, which is certainly not the case if you're travelling on two separate tickets.
The connection duration is also usually shorter. So, for example, Emirates' website now suggests a route that involves 17 hours of flight time to Costa Rica, with a layover of only two hours in Fort Lauderdale.
